After a really tough night entering over 50 hours of not eating/drinking a thing, William was cleared to eat....but had finally settled down (for his typical catnap).
His gentle, snuggler personality shown through his experience in the PICU, as he would hold onto anything for a little bit of comfort.
This night was truly one of the most difficult possible. By this point, William was passing gas, so we knew his bowels were functioning again, but the docs on the floor refused to let him eat until the surgeons rounded the following morning. William's monitors were constantly alarming (and if it wasn't his, it was someone else's screeching). He was very uncomfortable and incredibly hungry! Grammy insisted I get a little rest in one of the "sleep rooms." While gone for less than a couple hours, I came back to a screaming William in a new bed - apparently the hospital bed inspector busted the style bed William was in previously and had the staff change his bed within minutes.
Thank you Grammy for spending this rough night with us - we would not have made it any other way!
