Our Last Hurrah as a Family of 3!

Daddy took the day off for a fun-filled family day!

We took off for Rochester and hit a dive for lunch (but at least Daddy got his fix for a garbage plate this decade!)

We went to the "kid's museum" as Nicholas calls it and went to the butterfly exhibit. Nicholas waited so patiently listening to the rules.

He was very interested in checking everything out and did a lot of talking to the butterflies.

There were so many gorgeous species of butterflies...

but Nicholas was most enthralled with the flightless birds who hopped all around. He quickly found their home and watched their every move.

One hot family of 3+ (really, it was super hot and humid in the exhibit!)

Nicholas whipped up a batch of his infamous "egg soup" in the Berenstein Bears kitchen.

He then amazed both Mommy and Daddy by jumping in the big maze to climb all the way to the top of Jack's beanstalk...all by himself! I nearly croaked when I noticed the sign "for children only - no adults - recommended for kids 6 years and over." The higher he climbed, we started to see some fearful faces, but Daddy encouraged him to watch the older kids and follow them.

Mommy was near panicking seeing her little guy all the way at the top...

but the new gray hairs were all worth it when we saw his pride when he got back to the bottom!

Driving the heli is always a favorite...

but Wegman's takes the cake!

Nicholas would have stayed at that register the entire day if we let him. He'd run to the nearest shelf, grab more food and book it back to the register as fast as he could.

The boys were on tv with Elmo.

We were serenaded with some Nicholas originals.

And ended our day with with the infamous "yellow car." Nicholas was in his glory "fixing the taxi" with pretend tools - and even took Daddy for a wild ride to "Wegmans and Home Depot."

We topped off our great day with meeting Poppie at the Lube for dinner.

When we told Nicholas Poppie was going to meet us, he disappointingly said, "...and Grammy too...and Dillon too?" too cute!
