Oh My Nuts!

Nicholas is a huge peanuts fan! He had asked for nuts for a snack and helped himself to the container from the pantry. A little time passed and he was nowhere to be heard...until I found him in the dinning room, having opened the nuts jar all by himself!
He was so happy to eat the nuts from the big jar!
BUSTED
What a guilty little face!

Day with Daddy

Thursday is a Mommy workday, but our sitter called in sick. Daddy was quick to offer to stay home with our little man...
... and judging from this picture I found on the camera, it looks like the had fun with some R & R time. In the end, it was a role-reversal day in our house, since Mommy had plans to go to Parade of Homes with Gammy in the evening. Daddy was the stay-at-home parent this day (good job Daddo)!

Mischievous Nicholas!

Every now and then, we all experience a pajama day (right?). This was ours - even though these were not even the PJ's Nicholas slept in (long story, involving a huge morning wet-though)...and then after a very messy lunch date with Olivia, I figured it was fine to put the PJ's back on for the afternoon.

Nicholas' new favorite spot is on top of the toilet, especially in the master bath so he can get into all sorts of goodies (tissues, the faucet, the bamboo plant). He has a thing for washing himself with tissues...
they of course turn into mush in his hands, which he thinks is funny...
he wipes his face and sucks on them a little...
and finds it all pretty amusing!
Once Daddy got home, Nicholas followed him to the office and got to play with Flight Simulator.

The 2-handed approach, like all good pilots must have.

Oh, the concentration!

Some snipits, but sorry for the poor editing.

I just love the "Ooooo, I'm cleaning..." line he gives me!

What a Hot Day!

Despite the horrible heat and humidity, we seemed to spend a lot of time outside today. We went for a spin with the bike trailer (on which Mommy nearly died from exhaustion from the strong head wind and the heat index). Nicholas is sure to keep a close eye on Daddy and yells "Oh Daddy!" whenever Fred gets the least bit of distance between us.

After refusing to nap, we went back outside and picked some ripened tomatoes. This has definitely been a highlight of our summer - I love to watch Nicholas "try" to be oh so careful in the garden and to go after the perfectly ripe tomatoes. Maybe next year he'll actually eat some!

(He looks all wet from playing in the pool and with the sprinkler - its not all from sweating!)

Not Ready for Ogers Yet

Tonight I asked Nicholas if he'd like to watch a movie in the theater. His response, "Oh sure!" As soon as he was out of his chair from dinner, he headed straight to the basement door.
We've been eager to expand his tv repertoire beyond Curious George, Little Einsteins and Sesame Street, so we tried Shrek, since we already own it. Nicholas got himself into the prime seat of the theater (AKA - Daddy's hot spot)....and was ready & waiting...
...that is until he got a glimpse of the giant oger!
He got really scared and didn't even find amusement with the talking donkey.
Let's just hope this experience doesn't cause nightmares (sorry, my buddy).

Big Boys Play Peek-a-Boo!

At dinner, Nicholas and Daddy got into a hillarious game of peek-a-boo.

He's such a little snoop.

Such a big boy!

Oh, what fun!

Flashback Friday!

This time last year, our childproofing needs rose to the next level (note the knocked-over metal dog sculpture in the background here).
~ a bald boy and his doggie playing in the back yard ~
As Mommy and Daddy enjoyed the good eats at Italian Fest, Nicholas munched on an apple wheel that seemed to last forever.
My favorite video of all - Nicholas' experiences of learning to crawl

(this one is for Gampie, who loves this video)

Digging for Gold

Someone has discovered new things to do with his nose.

Beware everyone - he also like to search others' territories too!

Priceless!

Mommy's wake up call (which is also used when he's following me around the house)
"Oh Mommy, what to (you) doing?"

Big news:
Nicholas' top eye teeth are just making their debuit appearance - FINALLY!

Play Boy!

It's always a great day when we take a bike ride to the playground!
We got in a little swinging...
a little sliding...
and splashing in the only puddle to be found!

It's been a bucket-o-birthday!

Daddy's birthday continues...Tonight Gammy and Gampoo took us out to dinner at "The Lube." I don't know who ate more, Nicholas or Daddy with his bucket-o-wings.

Once again, Nicholas was in his glory with all the cool motorcycles and cars hanging from the ceiling. There was so much to see. He even got to show-off a snipit of his moves on this tv in the floor.
Thanks for celebrating with us!
Next time, I'll have to make sure to pack Nicholas something "tradeable" to get a wing out of Daddy - LOL!~

Daddy's Birthday!

Today Daddy turned the big 3-2!
We enjoyed a nice breakfast with Mema and Tim at Dave's Diner. Nicholas and Mema were twins with their caps on - but they were able to manage their brims just right to swap kisses.

Given the option to do whatever he wanted, Daddy focused on the eating ends of the day. For dinner, we went to Dinosaur for an awesome (and messy) dinner. Nicholas was in awe of the whole place and all the activity going on.
We weren't about to share any of our corn bread, so we were sure to bring along Nicholas' banana bread for him. His meal lasted nearly the entire time we were there, because he was constantly snooping and trying to point while eating.
Later on, Nicholas inspected Daddy's gifts from us...
and told him a story about the card.
As you can see, he was rather excited for cake time - and all 32 candles!
He looks like he's in a trance looking at the glow.
He gave a good blow, right on cue.
Sugar High?
After a big piece of carrot cake and lots of frosting, our friends who joined us asked how he'd handle all the sugar. I guess the fact that he was still awake and playing in his crib after 9:00 explains some of it.

Baby Corn on the Cobs!

What 'ca got there, Nicholas?

Mmmmm, baby corn on the cobs!Ooops, I have to blow on them...
yummy!!!!
Oh, the treasures we find at Wegmans!

(and what were we thinking to put away the groceries and leave Nicholas unattended at the dinner table - what a huge mess! Check out the concoction he made by mixing some yogurt in with his apple cider in the glass - gross, but boy did he love it!)

Flashback Friday!

Oh, do I remember this day...it was the first morning Nicholas spent at Miss Judy's house. He seemed to have grown a full inch after we were apart - and another inch of smile to be back home.
Thursday we went over to Olivia's house to cool off on her splash mat. They sure didn't look like this yesterday!
The index finger came out this time last year - and he hasn't stopped pointing at everything of interest to him since.
The days of crawling backwards.
